The Hammers are working on multiple fronts to try to land a centre-back before he current transfers window slams shut and Fiorentina’s Milenkovic is among the stars that have caught boss David Moyes’ eye.

Fiorentina want €40m for Milenkovic and, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, their unwillingness to compromise has seen AC Milan end interest in the player.

AC Milan have now changed direction away from a bid to sign Milenkovic, with West Ham now pushing to do a deal.

It is claimed the Hammers could go up to €30m for the centre-back, but they may need to add on €10m more to get the transfer done.

Fiorentina have made Milenkovic a key man at the back and he is a regular part of the club’s defensive unit, making them reluctant to lose his services before the transfer window closes.

They signed the 22-year-old from Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade in 2017 and he cost the Italian side around €5m to snap up.
