Southampton are in the market for a defensive midfielder as they are yet to properly replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg who left for Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the window.

With only a few days left in the transfer window, the Saints are now considering a number of options who they will be able to sign before Monday’s deadline.

And Diallo has emerged as one of the top targets the club are looking to sign in the next few days of the transfer window.

Southampton are claimed to have tabled a bid for the 21-year-old defensive midfielder and, according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Brest are preparing for life after Diallo.

The French club have already started looking at potential recruits who could come in and replace Diallo in their team.

Brest are aware that they are unlikely to convince Diallo to stay if he has a real opportunity to move to the Premier League.

They are likely to sell the midfielder if a deal worth €15m could be agreed with Southampton.
