Garcia is in the final year of his contract and has made it clear to Manchester City that he will not pen a fresh deal.

The defender wants to return to his former club Barcelona after spending three years in England, but his future has remained unresolved with days left in the transfer window.

Barcelona have held talks with Manchester City and are still working on a deal to take their former academy starlet back to the club.

But according to Mundo Deportivo, they believe Manchester City are still asking for too much money for the centre-back.

Manchester City’s initial asking price was €30m and while that has come down, it still at a figure that Barcelona do not want to pay.

They have failed with a €10m bid for Garcia and do not want to pay more than €15m for a player who will be available to sign a pre-contract in just over 12 weeks’ time.

With Ruben Dias joining Manchester City earlier this week, there is hope at the Camp Nou that Manchester City will finally relent and let Garcia go at a compromise figure before Monday’s deadline.
