The north London club want to bring in a striker before the transfer window closes on Monday and a number of hitmen have been linked with a move to Tottenham.

Milik was on Tottenham’s shortlist and the club held talks with Napoli and his representatives over a potential move for the Pole.

But the negotiations failed to yield any result and Tottenham have not come close to reaching an agreement for Milik.

And according to Italian broadcaster Rai Sport, the north London club have backed away from their interest in the striker and are focusing on another option.

Tottenham are still looking to sign a striker and are in talks to sign Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius on loan with an option to buy.

Milik still could end up in the Premier League as Everton are interested in taking him to Merseyside as the replacement for Moise Kean.

The striker also has other suitors in Europe with Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid believed to be keen on him.
