Chelsea have strengthened their options over the course of the transfer window and Emerson has slipped down the defensive pecking order.

The former Roma man could leave Chelsea before the window closes and has been strongly linked with a return to Italy, where his stock remains high.

His agent Fernando Garcia though is not ready to predict just where Emerson will be when the window shuts.

He told Inside Futbol: “I still can’t say for sure where Emerson will play.

“Nothing is defined yet.”

However, he revealed that there is significant interest in Emerson from big clubs in Spain.

“I can say that there are some important Spanish clubs on him”, Garcia added.

Emerson has only played for Chelsea in the EFL Cup so far this season, with the left-back being left out of the Blues’ matchday squad for Premier League meetings with Brighton, Liverpool, West Brom and Crystal Palace.

He still has another two years on his contract at Chelsea and it remains to be seen if he will make a late move away from the club.
