The Uruguay international is on the verge of joining Scottish Premiership champions Celtic on a season-long loan contract.
The 27-year-old defender is said to be in line to complete his medical before finalising the temporary switch to Parkhead on deadline day.
However, the final details of the transfer as yet to be agreed, with Celtic still in talks with AC Milan over the inclusion of a purchase option in the deal.
If such an option-to-buy clause is included in Laxalt’s loan deal with the Hoops, the Italian Serie A side want a permanent transfer fee of around £9m.
It remains to be seen if Celtic will accept the Rossoneri’s demands, with negotiations still ongoing.
AC Milan signed Laxalt from league rivals Genoa for a fee in the region £13m in the summer of 2018.
Whether a purchase option is included or not, Neil Lennon would surely be delighted to have Laxalt at his disposal this season.
