Cavani’s agent exclusively told Inside Futbol the move is agreed, and his client is on the verge of joining Manchester United on a free transfer today to bolster Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s forward line with his star power.

The 33-year-old has passed a medical at Manchester United and will sign a two-year deal contract with the Old Trafford outfit expected to make an announcement in the afternoon.

Cavani is likely to be one of the highest-paid players in the Manchester United squad once the deal goes through, but his contract will have a fail-safe option for both the club and the player.

It has been claimed that the two-year deal will contain a break clause that would allow both the player and the club to part ways next summer.

Given the striker’s age and his injury record last season, Manchester United will not be saddled with him for two years if he does not make an impact this season.

However, Manchester United are hopeful that the all-time top scorer at Paris Saint-Germain will significantly improve their attack.

Cavani may well make his debut against Newcastle United after the international break as Anthony Martial will remain suspended.
