The Toffees have been hunting a new goalkeeper throughout deadline day as they bid to put pressure on current number one Jordan Pickford.
They have an interest in Tottenham’s Paulo Gazzaniga and Roma’s Robin Olsen, while Romero is also on their radar.

Manchester United are demanding a permanent exit though and are not willing to play ball on a loan.
Romero wants the move and his wife took to social media this evening to blast Manchester United for not letting him leave.
The clock is ticking down on the transfer window and it remains to be seen if Manchester United will rethink their stance on Romero, but even if they do it may come too late, with Everton lining up another goalkeeper.
They appear to be closing in on signing Olsen on a loan deal from Roma.
Romero is behind both Dean Henderson and David de Gea in the pecking order at Old Trafford.
He may have to wait until the January window opens in around eleven weeks’ time.
