With just hours left before the transfer window slams shut, West Ham are yet to sign the central defender they have been looking for throughout the window.

Keen to add to their defensive options, the Hammers made several attempts to sign James Tarkowski from Burnley, who turned them all down.

West Ham have been linked with a number of defenders following their unsuccessful pursuit for Tarkowski, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Tah being one of them.

However, the London-based club will have to pay the German Bundesliga club a fee of £30m if they want to acquire the services of the 24-year-old, it has been claimed.

There have been suggestions that West Ham will look to sign Tah on a loan deal, with a purchase option included.

However, Bayer Leverkusen, who are holding out for a fee of £30m, are rated as unlikely to accept such an offer.

With just hours left before the transfer clock stops, it remains to be seen if David Moyes’ side will manage to add to their centre-back options.
