The 17-year-old winger is rated highly at Celtic but he has made just four senior appearances for Neil Lennon’s first team thus far.

The Scottish champions were keen on sending Dembele out on loan in the last transfer window and were waiting for concrete offers to land on their table.

And it has been claimed that the youngster attracted serious interest from France over a loan move towards the end of the window.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, Amiens were keen on taking the winger off Celtic’s hands for a season on a loan deal.

The Ligue 2 outfit identified him as a top talent and made a serious attempt to take him to France in the transfer window.

However, they could not come up with an offer to please Celtic and ultimately they could not get a deal done for Dembele.

Celtic are still keen to loan him out but could have to wait until January to get the right offer on their table.
