The Light Blues managed to snap up Zungu on deadline day from Amiens after the South Africa international had spent several months on Gers boss Steven Gerrard’s transfer radar.

The midfielder has joined the Ibrox side on a season-long loan and will vie for a spot in Gerrard’s midfield for the rest of the current season.

Zungu expressed his gratitude to his parent club Amiens for believing in his talents and providing him with an opportunity to express himself in one of the top leagues in Europe.

The midfielder, who has been on the books at Stade de la Licorne since the summer of 2017, wished Les Licornes well in their quest to return to the French top flight after being relegated to Ligue 2 last season.

Zungu took to Twitter and wrote: “I am grateful for everything.

“All the best for the season.”

Rangers have the option to make the 27-year-old’s Ibrox stint permanent next summer, if the midfielder manages to impress Gerrard in his debut season in Scotland.
