Frank Lampard has lost faith in Kepa and the Spaniard was dropped from the starting eleven towards the end of last season.

The Spaniard started the season as the first choice, but made a high profile error against Liverpool, and Chelsea signed Edouard Mendy from Rennes.

Mendy is likely to replace Kepa in the starting eleven and there are suggestions that the Spaniard did try and find a way out of Stamford Bridge towards the end of the transfer period.

It has been claimed that his representatives tried hard to find a club who would be willing to sign the Spaniard on loan in the final days of the transfer window.

The Spaniard’s camp failed to find someone who would be keen to sign Kepa and he ultimately stayed put at Chelsea.

Kepa did well for Spain during the international break and will be returning to Chelsea with some confidence under his belt.

And with Mendy picking up an injury on international duty, the Spaniard could be in the starting eleven when Chelsea host Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
