The 29-year-old Italian has been without a club since his short-term contract with Serie A outfit Hellas Verona came to an end last month.

Borini, who has previously plied his trade for Liverpool and Chelsea in the Premier League, has been linked with a return to England but is yet to find a club.

However, the Italian winger could find a new club in the shape of Championship outfit Swansea, who are credited with an interest in the player.

The Welsh giants are currently locked in talks with Borini and could sign him on a free transfer.

The former AC Milan man previously had a brief loan spell at the Liberty Stadium in 2011 and remains a popular figure at the club.

If the talks progress positively, Borini could be in line to return to Swansea nine years after his temporary stint with the side.

Steve Cooper’s side made an attempt to sign winger Harry Wilson on loan from Liverpool but saw the bid turned down.
