The 21-year-old midfielder joined Premier League side Tottenham from Portuguese top flight club Benfica on one-and-a-half-year-long loan in January this year.

While Spurs also have the option to buy Gedson, the youngster has found playing time hard to come by, having made just one appearance so far this season.

There have been suggestions that the midfielder could cut short his loan and return to Benfica in January and former Portuguese star Idalecio has backed the idea.

Idalecio believes Gedson has grown despite not playing much at Tottenham and feels he could be a good option to have for Benfica, who are currently on a three-game winless run.

I believe that Gedson has developed at Tottenham, despite not playing much“, Idalecio told Portuguese outlet Desporto ao Minuto.

A return to Benfica in January would be important because the team are facing some difficulties and Gedson would certainly be a valid option for Jorge Jesus.

He could even play more.

January would be a good time for Gedson to return to Benfica.

Gedson’s only appearance for Tottenham this season came in their EFL Cup victory over Chelsea in August and Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has conceded it is up to Benfica if they want to recall the player.
