Eriksen left Tottenham to join Inter in the January transfer window this year but he has struggled to find a regular place in Antonio Conte’s plans.

Conte has been insistent that the Dane needs to improve and Eriksen has made just four starts for Inter this season; he was an unused substitute in their 1-1 draw against Atalanta before the international break.

There are suggestions that Inter could consider offers to let Eriksen go in the winter transfer window and it has been claimed that initial talks are under way with Arsenal over a proposed swap deal.

According to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, the Nerazzurri have held conversations with Arsenal over Eriksen moving to the Emirates, with Xhaka joining the Serie A giants in a swap deal.

Conte is looking for a robust midfielder and was keen on Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante over the summer.

The talks are still at an exploratory stage and it is still uncertain whether the two clubs will find an agreement.

It also remains to be seen whether the Dane would accept a move to Arsenal after spending six-and-a-half seasons at their north London rivals Tottenham.

And it is unclear if any transfer fee would be involved, dependent upon the valuations of each player.
