Having made four league appearances off the bench since he arrived at the London Stadium from Championship outfit Brentford, Hammers boss David Moyes handed Benrahma his first start of the campaign in his team’s 2-1 win away at Leeds United last Friday.
Benrahma, whose dazzling footwork and creativity has caught the eye of Hammers faithful, already provided two assists in the top flight, but believes there is more to come from him as he increasingly integrates himself into Moyes’ set-up.
The 25-year-old is delighted in being able to make his first Premier League start for West Ham and expressed his gratitude to all his team-mates and coaches, who have helped him adapt to the cut and thrusts of top flight football.
Benrahma added that he is feeling sharper with each passing game and insists the adept skills that he displays on the ball are not just for show, but aid him in carving out better attacking scenarios for his team.
“I am so happy for my first start, I am happy we won and that I played 84 minutes”, Benrahma told West Ham’s official site.
“Step by step, game after game and the more I play, I am getting a good feeling with the team and I am happy with the way I am adapting.
“All my team-mates and coaches have helped me to settle in here at the club, which has been good for me.
“I play for the team and to be effective, not for myself, and the purpose of this skill is to create a chance or a goal.”
West Ham will host Crystal Place in a London derby on Wednesday and Benrahma will be hoping that Moyes adds his name to the starting eleven again.
