Tavernier has been in stellar form for Rangers across all competitions since the current season kicked off, with 17 goals and 13 assists to his name.

The right-back’s latest exploits on the pitch saw him curl in a stunning free-kick against Dundee United in his team’s 2-1 win on Sunday, while setting up the other for Connor Goldson’s winner at Tannadice Park.

Aribo is not surprised by Tavernier’s ability from dead-ball situations as he revealed the Gers skipper has been finding the back of the net regularly during training from similar scenarios.

“Even from the view I had on Sunday I was amazed by the goal from Tav!”, Aribo told a press conference.

“Hoping he can keep up this amazing form and keep doing what he does.

“A few of the boys were watching him take free-kick the day before so we’re not surprised.”

The Nigeria international added that on a personal note, he is comfortable playing in both midfield and attack, as he is confident in his ability to give his best wherever Steven Gerrard deploys him, with respect to the tactical necessities.

“I’m not really fussed about playing either midfield or attack, I just want to be involved.

“It depends on the opposition, sometimes I prefer starting from deep, other games I like to start further up the pitch.”

Tavernier is currently the top scorer in the Scottish top flight with 11 strikes and is also leading the assist charts, having set up eight goals for his team-mates.
