With the winter transfer window opening in just over a week, clubs have already begun their efforts to reinforce their squads for the second half of the campaign.

One player who is attracting significant interest ahead of the next month’s transfer window is Simakan, who currently plies his trade for French side Strasbourg.

Italian giants AC Milan are in close contact with the Ligue 1 outfit to land the 20-year-old central defender, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, but are facing competition.

It is claimed that Premier League pair Everton and Wolves are pushing for the defender, who is valued at between €15m and €20m.

However, even if Everton and Wolves can agree a deal with Strasbourg, they would have to work on convincing the player as Simakan currently prefers a move to the Rossoneri.

AC Milan are engaged in talks with the French top flight club to reach an agreement over a transfer fee for the defender, leaving Everton and Wolves with little time to act.

With the January transfer window fast approaching, it remains to be seen if the Premier League sides can work out a way to convince Simakan to join them.
