Pearson’s contract at Preston is set to end in June and he is attracting interest from the Lilywhites’ league rivals Brentford and Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion.

The midfielder has also popped up on the radar of Hoops boss Neil Lennon and it is claimed that the Glasgow giants made contact with the midfielder last week in a bid to convince him to sign a pre-contractual agreement.

Pearson’s team-mate Davies is also monitored by Celtic as the Scottish top flight side are eyeing bolstering their defensive department in the ongoing transfer window.

But Celtic are showing more interest in taking the 26-year-old midfielder north of the border than the centre-back at the moment.

Pearson, a Manchester United academy product, has been on the books at Preston since 2016 and has risen to become a key player at Deepdale, but sees his current stint expiring in six months’ time.

Davies’ is also out of contract at the end of the current campaign, and English top flight side Sheffield United are claimed to be keen on him.

However, a switch to Yorkshire this month is rated as unlikely, and it remains to be seen whether Celtic will make any concrete moves for the centre-back.
