Williams’ future at Manchester United this month has been under the scanner due to the lack of opportunities he has received this season.

Southampton have identified him as a target for the winter window and want to sign him on a loan deal for the next 18 months.

Bayer Leverkusen also recently explored the possibility of signing Williams on a permanent deal and not just a loan move.

And it has been claimed that Everton are now serious contenders to take the defender to Merseyside on a loan deal.

Carlo Ancelotti wants to add full-backs to his squad due to injuries and the club have turned their attention towards Williams.

The situation is fluid and the defender wants to play more first-team football in the latter half of the season and could be open to the move.

Solskjaer wants him to stay and believes he is likely to get more opportunities later, especially in the Europa League going forward.

But for the moment, no definitive decision has been made and Williams’ future very much remains on the edge.
