The Premier League giants have been heavily linked with the Argentine and it has been claimed they have held preliminary talks over signing him from German side Stuttgart.

Gonzalez was wanted by an English club last summer when Leeds United were keen on snapping him up, but Stuttgart were not willing to play ball.

And it appears that Gonzalez will not be joining Tottenham as Mourinho, asked in a press conference if Spurs want him, replied: “No.”

Mourinho also laughed off Ozil’s comment that he would rather retire than join Tottenham.

The Portuguese said: “Who told him that Tottenham would be interested in signing him?”

Ozil has been frozen out of the first team picture at Arsenal and is expected to leave the club in the summer when his contract expires.

The attacking midfielder has been strongly linked with Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
