Lingard has been on the periphery of Manchester United’s squad this season and his appearance in the FA Cup last week was only his third in the ongoing campaign.

Manchester United have been open to letting him go but they are yet to receive a concrete offer on their table for Lingard.

Sheffield United made the most advanced move for him and Chris Wilder reportedly contacted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to take Lingard to Bramall Lane in the ongoing transfer window.

But it has been claimed that the player is not enthusiastic about a move to Sheffield United this month.

The Blades won their first league game of the season against Newcastle United on Tuesday but they remain odds on favourite to go down to the Championship.

Lingard may not want to be part of a battle for survival in the Premier League this season and could want to wait for better offers.

Manchester United extended his contract by one more year in December and both the club and the player seem to be prepared to wait until the summer for a parting of ways.
