Newcastle suffered another poor result on Tuesday evening when they handed Sheffield United their first victory in the league this season.

The atmosphere around Newcastle has been difficult since they were beaten by Championship side Brentford in the EFL Cup quarter-final and it became grimmer on Tuesday after the Sheffield United result.

Bruce has never been a popular manager amongst many Newcastle fans and complaints around his defensive style of football have been a constant since his arrival in 2019.

And Sinclair feels that the Newcastle manager has been setting up his team to defend, even against sides they are expected to beat and the football is dire.

He admitted that if Bruce is failing to get a tune out of his players despite his assertion that he has been trying things, then the time might to be right for Newcastle to get rid of him and bring in a fresh face.

Sinclair said on talkSPORT: “The fans have had enough of Steve Bruce and his tactics and the way he has been putting his teams out to play, especially against teams they really should be having a go and trying to win the game.

“For me, if you are a Newcastle fan you would want your team to have a go.

“It is part of their history and part of what they are all about.

“They have not scored a goal in open play in nearly 12 hours and yet [Dwight] Gayle and [Andy] Carroll can’t get a start.

“We are not there, we are not privileged to be around the training ground and see these players work.

“But what I would say is if you are not going to change nothing, nothing is going to change.

“If Steve Bruce is saying that he has tried everything, then maybe what he is trying is not good enough and they do need to change.

“The football they are playing is not exciting anybody.”

Newcastle will travel to London on Monday night when they will take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
