Hammers boss David Moyes wants to snap up Lingard on loan from Manchester United and the Red Devils have signed off on the switch.
The ball is in Lingard’s court over the move and it is claimed he is now edging closer towards joining West Ham.
The club insist that even if Lingard arrives it will not affect their ability to bring in a striker before the window shuts.
West Ham sold Sebastien Haller to Ajax earlier this month and are looking to add extra firepower, with a number of strikers under consideration.
They have failed with offers for marksmen, including Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri.
Winger Lingard is firmly out of favour at Manchester United and has made just three appearances for the club this term, in the EFL Cup and the FA Cup.
He has also been subject to interest from Sheffield United, but was claimed not to be keen on entering into a relegation battle.
