The Gunners starlet is heavily linked with leaving the Emirates Stadium on a loan deal and several Premier League clubs in the likes of Leicester City, Southampton and West Brom have all registered their interest in snapping him up.

However, Arsenal were reluctant to send Maitland-Niles to Leicester as they consider the Foxes to be their European spot rivals, while the player was not keen on joining the Saints, who wanted him to play as a wing-back, not in his natural midfield role.

Sam Allardyce’s West Brom emerged as the favourites to lure away the player and have managed to reach an agreement over a loan move for him within the last hour.

Maitland-Niles is now set to be put through his medical paces in the coming hours in London ahead of potentially making the trip to the Hawthorns for the remainder of the season.

The 23-year-old has played a bit part role under Mikel Arteta so far this season, only registering five starts in the Premier League.

Allardyce is keen on guiding his team climb the standings to ensure their survival in the top flight and sees the Arsenal starlet being a strong addition to his squad.

Maitland-Niles will look to clock up as much first team game time as he can should the move to West Brom materialise, having potentially been handed an opportunity to play regular football.
