A Scott McTominay goal in extra time was enough to take Manchester United through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup at the expense of West Ham.
The two sides failed to break the deadlock during normal time and eventually, the Scotsman broke through in the first period of extra time to win the game for Manchester United.
Martin was especially impressed with the fitness of the Manchester United players to last the full 120 minutes with some of them getting better with each passing minute.
He lavished praise on the work the fitness coaches have been doing behind the scenes to make sure the Red Devils are a top-notch fit team when they are on the pitch.
Martin, post match, said on MUTV: “We do [look a very fit team].
“We have got some really fit lads in the side as well. The likes of Fred ran for 120 minutes and he got better and better as the game wore on.
“This is a testament to the fitness lads in the coaching set-up as well.
“Scott looks fit lean, hungry and fit but they all do and that’s what carries you over the line.
“When you are playing 120 minutes, you have got to be fit.”
Manchester United have a few days to recover before they take on West Brom at the Hawthorns on Sunday in a Premier League clash.
