The Magpies are set to travel to the capital to take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in their upcoming top flight encounter on Monday.

Both teams are coming into the game on the back of positive results in their latest league outings, with the Magpies edging out Southampton 3-2, while the Blues recorded their third straight win under new boss Thomas Tuchel by beating Sheffield United 2-1.

Lewis is fully aware of the depth in quality the German tactician has at his disposal in the Chelsea squad which is enough for two top class sides in his view, possessing their characteristic power and pace.

And the full-back stressed the Magpies will need to impose their own game on the hosts in Monday’s clash by not getting caught just being hard to beat but rather need to try to win by giving their all.

“Chelsea could put out two different sides of elevens and still look top quality”, Lewis told NUFC TV.

“So, I think we need impose our game on to them.

“I think that is what we are looking to do.

“I think sometimes we get caught kind of maybe being hard to beat instead of trying to win a game so that is something that we are looking to do

“We know that they are going to bring a lot of quality and pace and power because that is what Chelsea sides always going to possess

“But we are looking to bring our assets into the game, the quality and show that as well.”

Chelsea are yet to taste defeat under Tuchel and Newcastle will be keen on handing the new look Blues their first setback by registering an upset.
