The Gers dropped points only for the fourth time in the top flight this season after Accies managed to hold them to 1-1 draw at the Hope CBD Stadium on Sunday, the Glasgow giants went into the clash having churned out narrow 1-0 wins in their previous two games.

Although Rangers still have an 18-point cushion at the top of the table, such are the level of standards set at Ibrox in the current campaign that boss Gerrard is expecting a much better display from his team when they host Kilmarnock at the weekend.

Gerrard admitted Rangers have not performed to their levels in recent outings and stressed the need for them to show a reaction against Killie at home with a strong display.

“We know we haven’t performed to our levels and really looking forward to seeing the reaction tomorrow”, Gerrard told a press conference.

“The players have been incredible up to this point and they’ve trained very well this week.”

Gerrard added that the campaign is entering a crucial period with the Europa League also returning and the players getting a positive result against Kilmarnock would be best way to get back into their groove.

“We have to be prepared and ready tomorrow.

“We are approaching an incredibly exciting time of the season with Europe also returning.

“The players have worked ever so hard to get us in this place and Kilmarnock is the next challenge.”

Rangers have a perfect record against Kilmarnock this season in the league, beating them 2-0 and 1-0 on both previous occasions they clashed.
