Greenwood signed a new contract until 2025 this week to commit his future to Manchester United and has been a key part of their squad since last year.

While this season he has failed to match his goalscoring feats from the previous campaign, many believe the forward’s overall game play has further improved, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer convinced that goals will come as well.

Albiston has been watching Greenwood from his academy days in his role as a commentator for the club’s in-house channel and admits that he has been outstanding since he broke through.

He feels young players always take some time to get used to playing in the first team, but Greenwood has looked a natural from day one.

The Manchester United legend stressed the only the surface has been scratched at the moment with respect to his immense potential.

Albiston said on MUTV: “He has been outstanding really since he got his chance in the first team.

“You don’t know how it’s going to go with young lads in the first team.

“You have got to see how they handle the atmosphere and the little bit of pressure that goes with it.

“But he took to it like a duck to water and broke into the international squad as well, but most importantly he has scored goals. He does what he is good at.

“He is phenomenal really.

“It is not the case of talking somebody up big but certainly his potential is incredible and he is only going to get better.

“We are just scratching the surface at the moment.”

Greenwood has also broken into the England squad and made his debut for the Three Lions in September last year.
