Thomas Tuchel is expected to look to strengthen his defensive options when the transfer window swings back open in the summer and Chelsea have been linked with a number of options, including Bayern Munich’s Niklas Sule.
Manchester United are also in the market for a centre-back and are keen on RB Leipzig star Konate, but the Red Devils now have company.
Chelsea have put the 21-year-old on their shortlist, according to German daily Bild, and could launch a swoop to secure his services.
RB Leipzig are already set to lose Dayot Upamecano to Bayern Munich in the summer and Konate following him our of the door would be a bitter blow.
Konate made the move to the German giants from French side Sochaux in 2017 and has shone in the Bundesliga.
He has been capped by France up to Under-21 level and is considered a bright prospect with room to develop further.
Whether RB Leipzig can keep hold of the Paris-born centre-back beyond the summer transfer window remains to be seen.
