The 20-year-old was on target in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Sheffield United on Sunday in the Premier League, helping his team end their four-game losing streak.
Although it was Jones’ first league goal of the current campaign, having registered 19 appearances, Liverpool legend Aldridge feels there is a lot more goals to come from the Reds academy graduate.
Aldridge is of the view that Jones has the ability to easily score ten goals from midfield a season for Liverpool and stressed the onus is on him to push harder.
The ex-Reds star explained Liverpool lack a midfielder who can promise goals more regularly and backed Jones to become that player for the Merseyside giants .
Aldridge wrote in his Liverpool Echo column: “I’ve always been a big admirer of Curtis, ever since I first started watching him when he was 16.
“I knew he was going to get the chance to get to these heights.
“It’s up to him now. He can be anything he wants to be.
“He’s got it in his locker to get 10 goals a season from midfield easily.
“We haven’t got a midfielder who can do that but he’s the one going forward who can do that.
“He’s a really good finisher and he gets into some great situations
“He runs with the ball and takes people away. He’s got everything.
“I was made up for him getting his goal. I’m delighted for him.”
Liverpool are set to host fellow top four hopefuls Chelsea in the top flight on Thursday and Jones could be handed his fifth league start on the trot by Jurgen Klopp.
