Cavani has missed the last four games for Manchester United due to a muscle injury but is expected to feature against Crystal Palace today.

The Uruguayan has travelled with the rest of the Manchester United squad to London and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has indicated that the forward is likely to be in the matchday squad.

Martin admits that Cavani’s availability will be a big boost for Manchester United as he is a different kind of forward compared to the ones Solskjaer has at his disposal at the moment.

He feels the Uruguayan’s ability to find spaces between defenders and his ability to run behind the centre-backs will come in handy against an ageing Crystal Palace backline tonight.

Martin said on MUTV: “He gives us a massive option and a really different one to the three lads – Anthony Martial, Marcus and Mason.

“They are all very similar, they come a little bit deeper to receive the ball and turn to run at players.

“While Cavani is the opposition.

“He will get into those spaces between defenders and you look at the likes of [Joel] Ward and [Gary] Cahill, not the quickest of players.

“If you have got him available for tomorrow to make those darting runs in behind those two, then there is certainly goals in him tomorrow.

Cavani, 34, has scored seven times for Manchester United across all competitions this season.
