17-year-old Elliott has caught the eye of many with his performances for Championship side Blackburn, who he joined on loan from Liverpool this season.
However, the winger cost Rovers their game against Reading on Tuesday as he gave the ball away near his own penalty area, leading to the Royals scoring and earning a 1-0 win.
Despite Elliott’s mistake taking Blackburn’s winless run to seven games, Rovers boss Mowbray came to the Liverpool loanee’s defence following the match.
Mowbray explained that Elliott is humble enough to acknowledge his mistake and refused to criticise the youngster, who he feels has been good for the side this term.
“Harvey’s apologising to the team, but he’s been brilliant for us all season and things like that happen sometimes“, Mowbray told iFollow Rovers.
“He got caught in a poor position and it cost us, but I won’t stand here and criticise him, he’s humble enough to acknowledge his mistake.
“We’ll put that behind us and we’ll move on.”
Having received the backing of Mowbray after making the mistake, Elliott will be hopeful of learning from the error and helping Rovers get back to winning ways soon.
