The Whites’ form at Elland Road has not been great this season in the Premier League, with them being able to rack up more points on the road.
The jury is out on whether the Whites’ inconsistency at home is entirely due to the absence of fans, but Leeds marksman Bamford has weighed in on how much a full Elland Road matters to the them
Bamford has expressed his belief that if Leeds had the fans cheering them on at Elland Road in draws against Manchester City and Arsenal, or even in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers, they could have come out on top
The striker stressed that having the crowd behind them makes a massive difference and added they could have won a handful of games more this season with them.
Asked whether he thinks if they had fans they could have gone on and won some close games, Bamford told the Official Leeds United Podcast: “Yes, certainly, probably a handful of games this year.
“The 0-0 at Leeds against Arsenal, the Wolves game, there was another one close at home that we drew [against Manchester City].
“You never know, with the crowd there, the Manchester City game as well.
“So, it makes a massive difference.
“I think you kind of take it for granted when you are used to it the whole time but then it disappears, you just forget what an impact it has.”
Leeds lost 1-0 to Aston Villa in their last home game but are now on the road again the top flight with a trip on Monday to West Ham United.
