Liverpool slipped down to a sixth straight defeat at home in a 1-0 loss against Fulham on Sunday, a run which has seen them only earn 12 points from their last 14 Premier League outings.

The Reds are going through the worst ever home form in their history, piling more pressure on Klopp to get their season back on track having dropped down to eighth in the standings.

It has been a topic of conversation among the Liverpool faithful and pundits alike whether Klopp’s job at Anfield is under immediate threat, but Liverpool legend Aldridge is of the view that any suggestions of the German being close to the sack are ludicrous.

The ex-Reds star admits Liverpool’s current run in the league is horrendous but stressed no one should forget what Klopp has done for the club, leading them back to the top.

“I am gobsmacked by what is happening to Liverpool at the moment”, Aldridge wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.

“The kind of run the Reds are on right now, with six straight home league defeats and 12 points from 14 games, is the type of form that, most of the time, would see the manager get the sack.

“It’s ludicrous to suggest that will happen with Jurgen Klopp – we all know what he has done to get the club back on top.

“But it’s clear something is going wrong.”

The Reds have maintained good form in Europe and will hope to seal a spot in the Champions League quarter-finals when they take on RB Leipzig at the Puskas Arena on Wednesday, going into the game with a 2-0 aggregate lead.
