Rangers sealed their first Scottish Premiership title in ten years last weekend and are now set to lock horns with Glasgow rivals and former champions Celtic later this month.

The Hoops could give Steven Gerrard’s side a guard of honour when they visit Parkhead according to tradition, but could act against it due to their rivalry with the club.

Former Scotland man McInally has admitted that Celtic could reject giving Rangers a guard of honour as the Light Blues did the same during Gerrard’s first season at Ibrox, which he feels was poor from them.

However, the Scot is hopeful that Celtic avoid following in Rangers path and show their class by bowing their head to the new Scottish champions.

I’d like to think Celtic will be a bit more class, genuinely“, McInally told Footy Accumulators.

They might be tit for tat, they might just go ‘No, we are not giving you, we don’t like the fact that you have taken the championship away and we’re not going to give you that guard of honour’.

But, you have got to take your hat off to Rangers and you have got to bow your head to the champions and that is just the way it should be.

I would like to hope that Celtic have a bit of class and don’t do what Rangers did, which was snub Celtic – that was poor by Rangers for reasons we obviously know about.

It is a really tough one to call, it is genuinely is, but if I was in charge of the football club, you take it right on the chin and Celtic will have to take this on the chin.

They haven’t been good enough, their manager is gone, the season has been just an absolute disaster for Celtic and they should give Rangers the proper respect.

And then you give it, okay, as soon as the whistle goes you start rolling the sleeves up again and you try to get back to where you were.

With Rangers travelling to Celtic, it remains to be seen if the Hoops will agree to give their derby rivals a guard of honour.
