Leeds have impressed in their first season back in the Premier League after 16 years and are on course to finish comfortably in mid-table.
The Whites are pushing for a top-half finish but some inconsistent form over the last month has seen them drop down to 12th in the Premier League standings.
Beckford insisted that Leeds are more or less guaranteed to be in the Premier League next season as there are a number of teams who are just not good enough and are below the Whites.
But the former Leeds star is looking forward and feels the club should focus on establishing themselves in the top tier of English football and then aim to be in Europe in the next three or four years.
Beckford said on The Official Leeds United Podcast: “First and foremost it is about cementing the Premier League status and touch wood we are very close to doing that.
“There are eight or nine teams in the league that are worse than us, in terms of overall performances and just in general rubbish football teams if I am being honest.
“As soon as we have a year or two in the Premier League we are going to have that windfall of cash coming in and not to mention the fans coming back in and the sponsorships coming from all over the place.
“I think within the next three or four years, we will be looking to cement our place in European football in some sort of form.
“That’s got to be the aim and if we don’t set our sights that high then we will be ultimately failing ourselves.”
Leeds are hopeful that Bielsa will agree to stay at the club for a fourth year in the summer as they look to build on a solid season back in the Premier League.
