Club football has been temporarily put on hold as players join their respective international teams for their World Cup qualifiers and friendlies.
While the international break gives players the opportunity to represent their country it also gives them the chance to learn from other stars playing in other countries and leagues.
For Blackburn defender Lenihan, the chance to link up with the Ireland national team allows him to learn from Premier League stars, including Everton captain Coleman and Newcastle midfielder Hendrick.
Delighted to have the opportunity to learn from Premier League stars in the Ireland team, Lenihan pointed out the top flight experience the likes of Coleman and Hendrick have under their belts and is hopeful of taking the lessons learnt from them back to Blackburn.
“You’re training with Premier League players who have such high standards and you try to bring those back with you to your club to elevate our own standards“, Lenihan told iFollow Rovers.
“You go away to the camps and you’re learning off players such as Seamus Coleman, a player who has appeared so many times in the Premier League.
“The same goes for other lads like Jeff Hendrick and Robbie Brady.
“It’s a learning experience and I’m very keen to play more games for my country.“
Apart from learning from the likes of Coleman and Hendrick, Lenihan will also be hopeful of helping Ireland qualify for the World Cup for the first time in 20 years.
