Manchester City want to bring in a striker in the summer transfer window and they are considering a number of options in the market.

Erling Haaland is believed to be on their radar but there are claims Pep Guardiola is also considering bringing in a Premier League proven forward such as Ings as well.

The 28-year-old is a proven performer in the Premier League with Southampton and scored 22 goals in 38 Premier League appearances last season.

He has netted just eight times in the league this term, but Ings remains a highly-rated striker and Wright stressed that him moving to Manchester City would make perfect sense.

The former Arsenal star insisted that Ings has the game to be in the Manchester City side and his ability to convert chances will only accentuate his strengths in Guardiola’s creative team.

Wright said on the Wrighty’s House podcast: “You look at it and it makes perfect sense to me.

“Oh my gosh yeah, I can see that!

“Danny Ings will be able to press like Pep would want him to press, but he will know to stay in the areas where he is going to get chance after chance.

“Can you imagine someone like him with [Kevin] De Bruyne and the wingers like [Riyad] Mahrez, knocking that ball across the box?

“Danny Ings can get 25 goals in that team at a canter.”

Ings only has a year left on his contract and Southampton are expected to sell him in the summer if he does not sign a new deal.
