The 27-year-old has often been the subject of criticism due to his proneness to errors, which has also seen him being dropped from the Everton team twice in the league this season.
Despite being vulnerable to making mistakes, Pickford has managed to retain the faith of England manager Gareth Southgate and Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti.
However, former top flight striker McInally has expressed his lack of confidence in the ex-Sunderland star by admitting that he has never been a fan of the goalkeeper.
McInally hailed Pickford as a goalkeeper and explained that Ancelotti has helped him at Goodison Park, but insisted that he would not be his pick for England’s number 1 spot.
“I’ve never been a big fan of Jordan Pickford genuinely“, McInally told Footy Accumulators.
“I mean he is a good goalkeeper, he is obviously a very good goalkeeper.
“I think what has helped him at Everton actually is Ancelotti.
“I think Ancelotti has shown huge faith in Pickford, I really do, because he did go through a real weird time and he was making mistakes.
“I don’t know what it is about him, it is either the way he is as a goalkeeper or what I watch, he has made some wonderful saves, you expect that of a goalkeeper, he is just not my pick [for the England number 1 spot].
“I don’t know what it is, it is like I don’t like some player for no reason other than I’m like ‘I don’t know, I just can’t take him, I don’t know if he does the right things that I expect him to do in that particular time’.
“So I have not been a Jordan Pickford fan, I’m really not.“
Southgate has not named Pickford in his England squad for their forthcoming World Cup qualifiers after the goalkeeper suffered an injury in Everton’s last league game against Burnley.
