Bamford has scored 14 Premier League goals this season thus far and has managed to silence his doubters, who were unsure about his ability to make an impact at the top level.

The 27-year-old striker will enter the final year of his contract at Leeds this summer and there are suggestions that the Whites are planning to offer him a new deal soon.

Couzens admits that Leeds need to sort out the striker’s contract soon and he does not believe that the question will come down to money as he feels Bamford feels comfortable at Elland Road.

“I think it is something Leeds need to sort as soon as possible”, the former White told LeedsUnited.news.

“It is something Leeds will be looking at in this present moment in time as well.

“It depends on what the boy wants, I don’t think there are any problems with the financial side.

“Can he hit his targets at Leeds? I think he can.”

The former Leeds star believes Bamford enjoys being at Elland Road, but feels the striker might want assurances over Bielsa’s future before he agrees to sign on a new long-term contract.

“He [Bamford] is well travelled, played a lot of football at a lot of clubs.

“He knows what Leeds United is about, he is enjoying his football.

“Having spoken to the lad a couple of times, it is about football – not money.

“He might want assurances Bielsa will be around for the next year or so – as a player that is something he might want.

“I would be getting him signed, he might be comfortable where he is.”

Bielsa has played a major role in Bamford’s rise and never lost trust in him even when the striker was struggling for form last season.
