The Whites midfielder is currently on international duty and is part of Gareth Southgate’s squad for their World Cup qualifiers.

Club rivalries are set aside for the time being and Phillips is making the most of his time with the national team, learning from the top professionals he has around him.

Phillips revealed he is learning a lot from all of his team-mates and picked out the Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard as two players he is keeping an eye on.

The Leeds star also looks up to Three Lions skipper Kane, and is keen on improving his leadership qualities with a few more games under his belt.

Asked from who in the England squad has he learned the most, Phillips told the BBC: “For England from everyone really.

“You see players like Rashford and Jesse Lingard and stuff like that.

“Even like Harry Kane, be a bit more of a leader.

“I do not think I am too good at it at the minute.

“But hopefully I can get good at it when I have a few more games under my belt.”

Phillips played for England on Thursday when they beat San Marino 5-0 and he will be hoping to clock up more minutes in their next two games, against Albania on Sunday followed by Poland on Wednesday.
