After winning the Premier League at a canter last season and being top of the table at the start of 2021, the Reds’ league season has collapsed over the last three months.
An unprecedented run of defeats at home ended their hopes of winning the league again and they are now sitting seventh in the league table, five points behind Chelsea, who are fourth in the standings.
Not many are counting on the Reds finishing in the top four spots and believe that winning the Champions League is their only route back to the competition next season.
Salah feels his side have had poor luck this term and a number of things have gone against them at the same time.
But he feels that their league season gives Liverpool an extra motivation to go all the way in the Champions League.
Asked about what has plagued Liverpool this season, Salah told Spanish daily Marca: “Many things have happened at the same time.
“Luck has not been on our side.
“[But] that has made us want to win the Champions League even more and I hope we do.”
Liverpool will face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League with the first leg set to take place in Spain next month.
