The transfer saga involving the potential move of the Dutchman to Barcelona has been running since last summer.

He is out of contract with Liverpool at the end of the season and Barcelona have been tipped to pick him up on a free transfer in the next transfer window.

There have been claims that a pre-contract has already been agreed between the midfielder and the Catalan giants, but those suggestions appear to be wide of the mark.

And according to Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are looking at securing a new deal for 18-year-old Moriba as a bigger priority than signing Wijnaldum.

The teenager will be out of contract at the end of next season and Barcelona are looking to hold talks with his new agent over a new deal.

They are keen to sort out his long term future at the club before looking to sign Wijnaldum in the summer.

Barcelona’s priority in the transfer window is also expected to be signing a top striker over securing more midfield reinforcements.

Wijnaldum’s potential move to the Nou Camp is likely to hinge on whether they would have space in their wage bill to incorporate his signature.

Ronaldo Koeman wants to sign the Liverpool star but for the moment the sage is far from running its course.
