The 27-year-old joined Crystal Palace from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal last summer after impressing while on another temporary spell at the club in 2019.

Unlike his first spell at Selhurst Park, the transfer has not gone according to plan for Batshuayi so far, with Christian Benteke, Jordan Ayew and Jean-Philippe Mateta above him in the pecking order.

Despite his uneventful time with the Eagles, the Chelsea loan star was called up to the Belgium national team this month and scored the opener in the side’s 8-0 win over Belarus on Tuesday.

Expressing his relief following the game, Batshuayi has admitted that the Red Devils and coach Roberto Martinez give him the confidence that he does not feel at Crystal Palace.

The club and the national team are different“, Batshuayi was quoted as saying by Belgian daily La Derniere Heure.

The coach, the team members and the system are different.

With the Red Devils, I feel a lot of confidence from the coach, confidence that I don’t have there [at Crystal Palace].

With Martinez, we talk to each other often, even when I’m at the club.

I give my 200 per cent to not disappoint him.

Batshuayi conceded that he is enduring a difficult time with Roy Hodgson’s side and is relieved to link up with the Belgium national time.

“I have a burst of energy when I come to the national team because it is very hard for me at my club“, the striker said.

Having scored for Belgium, Batshuayi will be hopeful of taking the confidence to Crystal Palace and pushing for a starting role as they go into the business end of the season.
