Roberts has been having a good run of games with Leeds of late with six consecutive starts to his name, as boss Marcelo Bielsa has continued to trust him in a creative role.

The 22-year-old’s good form for his club earned him a call-up to his national team Wales for their World Cup qualifiers, but he made the news for the wrong reasons on Monday.

Roberts, along with national team-mates Hal Robson-Kanu and Rabbi Matondo, have been released from the Wales squad for allegedly breaching protocols, but their interim boss Page has insisted he will not be drawn on why they were sent home as it is an in-house issue.

Asked whether he can shed more light on why Roberts and his two other team-mates were sent home, Page told a press conference: “No, it’s an in-house issue.

“I don’t want to talk about that.

“It’s forgotten.

“It’s been dealt with… We move forward.”

However, Page stressed that Roberts and his team-mates will not be adversely affected in terms of their chances of making the Wales Euro 2020 squad

“No, [it will not affect their chances], we’ve drawn a line under it.

“Everybody’s on a level playing field.”

Roberts has returned to his club Leeds and will now be determined to not let the controversy surrounding him at the moment affect his performances on the pitch for the Whites.
