Having won their respective Scottish Cup matches, Rangers and Hibernian will return to Scottish Premiership action and lock horns with each other at Ibrox on Sunday.

Hibs go into the game on the back of a 3-1 win over Queen of the South in the cup and Easter Road great Weir feels they can take confidence from the match as they prepare for the trip to Ibrox.

Looking ahead to the clash against Rangers, Weir explained that Hibernian have performed well against the Gers recently and insisted that they should not be overawed by the champions.

The Scot admitted that the quality of player that Hibs will face on Sunday will be different from they faced against Queen of the South, but urged Jack Ross and co to go for it at Ibrox.

Hibs should be buoyant after their cup win going into Sunday’s game“, Weir wrote in his Edinburgh News column.

Winning football matches breeds confidence.

The calibre of player they face at Ibrox will be different but the players have to believe in themselves and just go for it.

In recent games Hibs haven’t done too badly against Rangers.

They nearly always put in a performance and they shouldn’t be overawed by them.

Hibernian are one of five sides to have taken points off of Rangers in the league this season and they will be hopeful of doing the same on Sunday.
