Mavropanos left Arsenal last summer on a season-long loan, joining Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart where he has risen to become a key player under boss Pellegrino Matarazzo.

The Gunners loanee has started Stuttgart’s last nine Bundesliga games on the trot and they are keen on having him in their ranks for another season, potentially by extending his loan stint.

Mavropanos revealed he is happy that Stuttgart are acknowledging his performances and are open to having him for another season.

“The door at Stuttgart is open for me – that’s very good”, Mavropanos told German daily Bild.

However, he explained he is unsure at the moment whether the potentially playing in Europe with Stuttgart could tempt him to stay for another season in Germany, as everything can change quickly in football, and stressed he cannot decide anything about his future until he talks with his parent club Arsenal.

“I can’t really think about the future until we have talks with Arsenal for the new season.

“I can’t say that [whether Stuttgart possibly clinching a European spot would tempt me to stay as] at the moment.

“Things can change quickly in football.

“I still have two months here in Stuttgart and I want to end the season with the team as high up as possible.”

Stuttgart are currently eighth in the league standings with 39 points, four adrift of a top six finish and Mavropanos will be determined to help his team get over the line in their quest for European football.
