The 20-year-old opened the scoring for Blackpool in their League One match against Lincoln City on Saturday, which ended 2-2 after the Imps pulled off a late comeback.
Though they dropped points after being in a winning position, Tangerines boss Critchley was delighted with the performance of Simms, as well as Jerry Yates.
Reflecting on the Everton loan star’s performance, the former Liverpool youth coach explained that he was a handful for the Lincoln defenders.
Critchley hailed Simms’ goal as terrific and pointed out how he caused troubles to the Imps central defenders with his movement and hold up play.

“[They] caused their two centre-halves a lot of problems with their movement and hold up play.
“Fantastic strike from Ellis on his left foot.
“I thought he was a real handful all game, him and Jerry [Yates].“
Simms, who joined Blackpool on loan from Everton in January, has scored five goals and provided two assists from 14 League One appearances for the Tangerines so far.
