The Scottish side recently locked down Welsh to a new four-year contract at Celtic Park following a series of impressive outings in the first team from the 21-year-old centre-back.

Welsh is looking to now kick on at Celtic and Kennedy is delighted that the club made sure the defender was going nowhere, with the contract a simple one to thrash out.

Kennedy insists that Welsh has a huge desire to improve and is always pushing himself, while also asking for tips and advice on his game.

“He’s the type of guy everyday who pushes himself”, Kennedy told a press conference when asked about Welsh.

“He always wants more information and works very hard on the training pitch to improve.

“I’m delighted he’s committed his future to the club.

“It was a very simple deal to do”, he added.

Welsh made his debut for Celtic in February last year when he featured for the senior side in a win away at Hamilton Academical.
